 Lily’s in bed with a black LLC, whining about how much her leg hurts and how bored she is. She tries a couple positions to get more comfortable but decides to get up and go downstairs. After crutching and scooting to the kitchen, she sets her crutches aside and hops to the counter and sits on it while making a breakfast smoothie. She gets off the counter and hops around doing some other things on one foot before sitting down with her leg propped up to enjoy her drink and look at her phone. Two weeks later, you’re Lily’s driver and she comes crutching up to the window and asks you if she can sit up front. She carefully gets in and asks if you mind if she sits it up on the dashboard. Her black cast is covered with silver signatures. As you drive her she keeps making comments about your driving and asking you to be careful. All the way to the store, Lily makes small talk about her cast, telling little details of what life is like in her cast. She wants to stop and get a coffee and asks you to come in with her, so you do and she props her cast up so you can see the worn bottom. She looks at her phone and wiggles her toes as she waits for her drink. After she gets her drink, she uses a stir stick to itch inside her cast. Next, you’re at the Swedish furniture store and Lily thanks you for taking her to get coffee and asks if you wouldn’t mind taking a break from work to come into the store with her. You agree. |
